Soyang Europe responds to 'boom in demand' for textile with new products

Soyang production buildingSoyang Europe has increased its wide and grand format textile offering by adding new lines to its product ranges. This comes as printers, designers and marketers 'embrace the commercial, practical and logistical benefits of printed textile over more traditional display media'.

Suitable for printing on almost any dye sub, UV or latex printer, the company’s fabrics are 'renowned for offering high quality solutions' for the indoor and outdoor display sectors in retail, exhibition and soft signage.

Soyang Europe’s managing director, Mark Mashiter explains the current boom in textile: “Creating a large exhibition stand, or a huge retail display from 'traditional' printable materials, PVC banner, rigid board or vinyl, for example, will deliver a very good result but with considerably higher transportation costs than textile. Traditional materials can also be heavy and awkward to handle and however well they're packed, the risk of costly damage is high. A textile graphic on the other hand will fold up into a mailing bag and can be easily installed by one or two people with only minimal training.”

Soyang Europe is the exclusive UK distributor for Endutex, which offers a range of European-manufactured front and backlit graphics; mesh; seamless wallcoverings; and flags and canvases, such as PVC and acrylic coated polyester products, typically printable with UV ink.

The Aurich Textilien range from Germany includes knitted and woven dye sub fabrics, backlit, decorative display, mesh and flag. Impact Prime is one of the 'best sellers'; a backlit, which prints 'beautifully' using the direct dye sublimation process, without any pin-holing – a key requirement for any high quality light box installation.

But the biggest news from the company is the 'substantial growth' in its own So-Tex range. Tim Egerton, Soyang’s Sales Manager for Textile Products said: “Our closeness to the end user and a real understanding of customer needs and expectations, enables us to bring ideas and product development to the table. Soyang Technologies in China has recently invested heavily in new premises, providing over 66,000sq metres of usable production and storage space, packed with state-of-the-art manufacturing technology, as they focus on delivering a wider choice of European-quality textile media at affordable prices.

“Retail chains that aren’t embracing textile run the risk of customers finding the shopping experience in their stores a lot less appealing. In addition to these creative benefits and all the logistical advantages, the ease and regularity with which the message can be changed is likely to create additional revenue opportunities.”

Soyang Europe is also seeing a significant shift towards the use of textile in the exterior signage sector too. “The technical benefits of using textile are a big factor when it comes to building wraps, soft signage and event branding,” says Egerton.

“Minimal rigging and anchorage, coupled with a reduction in wind loading by the use of perforated textiles, whilst still ensuring stability and safety of the installation, has major cost and time benefits.”

Soyang Europe’s textile ranges are available on next day delivery from the 1.3 million square metres of material that the company holds in stock at its recently opened distribution centre in Lancashire.

G-floor media from Soyang Europe

G-Floor graphic on shop floor Large area of continuous flooring decorated with the G-Floor graphic

A revolutionary new product is poised to 'take the European flooring market by storm'.

Marketers have increasingly been drawn to the benefits of using the surface we walk on to promote products and services and also for 'way-finding' purposes.

According to Soyang Europe, they've gradually been waking up to the notion that when visitors and shoppers enter a location for the first time, they often spend a great deal of time looking at the floor as a way of navigating unfamiliar surroundings. And yet traditionally most directional or PoS material is sited on walls.

But printing bespoke graphics and advertising messages on flooring media has historically been problematic. Durability, longevity and practicality have all presented challenges. A clever piece of promotional material for a high profile brand won't be doing much for the brand's reputation if it becomes scratched, scuffed or discoloured in a short space of time.

Wide format media specialists, Soyang Europe say they have the answer, with a 'remarkable' new product called G-Floor, which they are confident will completely change traditional perceptions of what is possible in the field of customised flooring.
The high-tech new media, originally developed in the United States, is based on a high density clear, flexible PVC substrate, capable of being printed to the underside using either UV curable or solvent inks on a grand-format printer.

Because the image is printed beneath the media, the thick wear-layer protects the integrity of the graphic. G-Floor is hygienic, easily installed and repositionable, as well as has 'excellent' load-bearing capability, with low noise and sound absorbing characteristics. A range of different finishes provide a 'safe, effective and hard-wearing' grip surface for a wide variety of retail, business and public space applications. There is also an option of a solid white media, suitable for surface printing in cases where print suppliers only have four colour process capabilities.

Andrew Simmons, Sales Director for SOYANG Europe said: "We believe that the sheer durability and versatility of G-Floor will turn the industry on its head. No other product currently available has such a high level of durability, or is available in such a wide range of finishes or widths. The potential for retail outlets, restaurants, cinemas, vehicle showrooms, fitness centres, hotels, exhibition halls, stages, sporting venues and airports, is genuinely fantastic. This product moves the game on from simply printing floor graphics to being able to produce graphic floors"

Available in widths up to 3m and thicknesses to suit virtually any kind of flatbed, roll to roll or hybrid grand format printer, G-Floor offers 'almost limitless marketing and logistical opportunities'. Simmons says: "This really is a very cost effective product and the speedy installation process coupled with its durability and ease of repositioning make this a far more viable proposition than conventional laminate or tiled flooring alternatives. The scope for this product is so vast and exciting that I think we're barely touching the surface of its potential. What we're really keen to do is nurture creative partnerships with printers, designers and marketers to really develop the full effectiveness of this product."

Soyang Europe’s fabrics make an impact

Soyang Europe backlit materialSoyang Europe, who supply European manufactured fabrics, note a continued upward trend in customers who invest in superwide and wide format polyester fabrics to use in soft signage, POS and exhibition installations.

With a substantial year-on-year increase in sales, one of the most popular products is the German-made Impact Prime backlit material.

Its crease free finish and ability to diffuse light while retaining punchy colours are two reasons Soyang Europe's sales manager, Tim Egerton, gives for its success. He said; "The Impact Prime product suits a variety of printer types and it delivers a vibrant and attractive result." Finding customers using UV and latex printers as well as the more typical direct sublimation methods to print to the product, Egerton is satisfied with its capabilities.

"We've worked with Aurich Textilien for over three years and this product has been hugely successful on the continent so it's very pleasing to see UK and Irish customers gaining a similar benefit."

Typically utilised to form printed elements of in-store displays and exhibition stands, the Impact Prime fabric is easy to hem with a flat Keder strip for use in tracked tensioning systems. And whilst performing perfectly in lightboxes, it's also used in suspended 3D installations thanks to its light elastic construction that make sure the finish is free from creases.

"One, or at most two people can easily change a fabric graphic with minimal training, meaning the brand's message can be kept current; there's no need for special fitters to return to site and the printer benefits from repeat business; so it's a win-win for all," said Egerton.
